A darkly humorous Hard Folk Metal record, 14 years in the making, the David Roter Method rides again into Halloween Night. The darkest, most twisted group of songs yet, this may be the ultimate peak for this group, some of whom have been dead for years.
NOTES
We started recording this record in fall of 2002. David had been diagnosed with a kind of cancer called “lazy leukemia”. His prognosis was that he could live for a few more years with a diminishing quality of life or get a bone marrow transplant and hopefully be cured. The transplant was tricky and dangerous and he could die suddenly if it didn’t go perfectly well. He opted for the transplant and his sister was a perfect match.

Just in case he didn’t make it we decided to record this album. He had a few new songs he had written and one song that was on the Dictators record, Pussy and Money, that he wanted to redo in his own way. But there were not enough songs for a full album. We decided to do the version of Gloria that we had been doing live because it was coming out quite well and also record some of his classic songs, Short Fat Man and Bug Girl, in a more high fidelity environment.

Well, after we recorded the tracks he went in for surgery and the worst thing happened. He caught an infection in December and in spite of fighting as hard as he could he succumbed in February of 2003.

I was devastated at the loss of my beloved friend. I could not listen to the songs for years, even though I told him on his deathbed that I would finish the album. Then last year I too got cancer. It made me realize that I need to get this done before we were both gone.

I listened to the tracks and came to the conclusion that as good as they were it was still not enough material. At the suggestion of my brother, Joe, and Andy Shernoff (two of the original DR Method), I decided to use some of the out-takes to make other versions. I selected the three best out-takes and created new tracks out of the vocals and other instruments on the tracks. Sometimes I used the drums, sometimes I used the piano and sometimes just the vocals. After mixing these songs for over a year I feel I have assembled the best David Roter Method record possible. Here is the breakdown of who played what on the songs:
